Mentorship makes a difference

According to the National Mentoring Partnership, kids who were at risk for falling off track, but had a mentor were:

55%

more likely to enroll
in college

78%

more likely to
volunteer regularly

90%

are interested in
becoming a mentor

130%

more likely to hold leadership positions

The data is undeniable - mentoring makes a huge impact on the lives of at-promise youth.

What is an at-promise youth?
The term “at-promise youth” was reclaimed from “at-risk youth," but the idea is the same. We work with children who are under-served, and need access to more resources, guidance, and opportunities. However, we choose to refer to them as "at-promise" to emphasize their potential.

Heart For Youth provides guidance to our youth through mentorship programs and special events we call Adventure Days. We also provide extensive training for our mentors, so they can feel better equipped to be good mentors.

Mentoring

We connect youth aged 8 to 18 living in Santa Clara County with caring adults that provide support, encouragement, and friendship. We believe regardless of background, every kid can use more positive influences in their lives to help them navigate the challenges of growing up. Learn more about how you can get involved!

Adventure Days

While one-on-one mentorship is the heart of our organization, we believe there is incredible value in building a greater community. Adventure Days are special events we organize, partnering with our local communities, to provide our mentees with activities that take them out of their comfort zone and help build their confidence. We strive to create events that challenge and teach them though fun and interesting experiences like rock climbing, horseback riding, community service, and more.

If you or your organization are interested in helping us plan an Adventure Day, please reach out to us!

Mentor Training

Anybody can become a great mentor! But it's a skill we don't take for granted - great mentors are built, not born. We help our volunteers become confident mentors through a training program that is grounded in our mission and our core values. We provide training on how to empower youth through acceptance, connection, equipment, and encouragement.
